I have always wanted to help people. When I was little I would massage my mother’s shoulders at the end of her work day or use her massage roller. When I was in college for fashion, when classmates were stressed and sore from sewing, I often gave little 5-10 minute shoulder rubs to help them along. I have been fortunate to have received massages and bodywork at pivotal times in my life. Those treatments gave me the strength or sense of self that I needed to make changes or pursue whatever I was facing.

As my work in garment creation progressed into predominantly custom work with private clients, the greatest joy came from the process of seeing the client feel better, empowered, and proud of their composure, their presentation and what they had to offer to their event. I was witness to insecurities, body asymmetries and dysfunction.

When the pandemic hit, I felt the pull to help people not just with their look, but with their bodies. I needed to shift my contributions to aid in helping people heal, myself included.  I first studied reflexology under Kendra Kembel Healing Arts and began treating for a year of practicum. This opened the door into holding space for folks and assisting on their journey. Reflexology gave me an understanding of the whole body: its many systems and their roles in homeostasis, both personal and physiological. The modality has a profound effect on our organs, addressing issues we are often unaware yet I could also feel the demand of local muscle pain. I wanted to be able to affect directly the musculoskeletal system.

I studied remedial massage therapy at Western College. The 2-year program gave me excellent mentorship and a thorough curriculum of anatomy, muscular dysfunctions and techniques to assist in healing and recovery.

To support the physiological work, it is important to honour the emotional and spiritual effects of our ailments and be responsible with my own energy in practice.  I am developing my skills in Reiki, of the Usui System, to aid in energy care.

I am still an artist and will always be driven to create. With this practice, I hope to create space for folks to feel safe, heard, and empowered physically and emotionally to handle their challenges and achieve their own goals. Love Matters embodies the reminder of what we are here to experience, learn and share. Love for the self, each other and all things.
